about

"I first encountered this trio watching a video from No Idea Fest in Austin, TX in 2019. The trio was formed as part of the brilliant curation of No Idea's organizer Chris Cogburn. Keep in mind that this was a video, I didn't get to see them live but I still felt this intense energy from their performance. They hit the ground running and it was electric! As a performer of improvised music, I believe that's the alchemy we all strive for, to really hit the ground running, it's truly magical when it happens. It seemed such a shame that this was it as I wanted to hear and feel more from this group. This trio was the inspiration for the formation of Joan of Bark Productions and I'm really excited to bring more of this sort of energy to the world, please enjoy!"

-Sarah Ruth Alexander

"This was a festival-curated first meeting that matched Eisenberg and Smith with percussionist Stefan Gonzalez to rock out. Smith complimented Gonzalez’ heavy-hitting forward drive by vamping and then either walking a fast line or bowing chaotically to compound the momentum. Eisenberg overlayed the propulsive rhythm section with superfast atonal blues, cold angular Duane Denison-like jazz, and licks befitting rock in opposition, all melted into her distinctive style. A very strong set and another collaboration I hope continues beyond the festival."
